Plasmas had a good run. We loved the picture quality and viewing angle that they gave us but we guess they are on their way out. Wait. What? DigiTimes is reporting that LCDs are set to outsell plasma in the 40-inch range by years end. Part of their reasoning is the large price drop LCDs have been experiencing, but don't people see the better picture quality that plasmas offer? We really don't think plasmas are done for. They offer a superior picture quality of LCDs, plus, they last just as long in most cases. What we are about to see though is flat-panel price wars. Manufacturers and retailers alike are going to have to offer incentives in order to move a certain type of flat-panel out of their warehouses. So you know what this hopefully means for us consumers, cheaper prices.
