So you happen to have lots of VCR tapes you simply aren't ready to get ride of and we are sure they don't look that great on your new HDTV. JVC might have you covered though with their newest VCR/DVD combo that can output those tapes via the HDMI input all the way up to 1080i. Forgot that internal scaler on the HDTV of yours and use JVCs. We don't know if this proves that scaler chips have reached a saturation point or manufactures are exploiting the marketing of high-def. If you are wiling to try, JVC might just have a solution to bring the craptastic video quality of your VCR tapes up to high-def quality for $269 - just make sure the retailer you pick one up at has a good return policy.
