Survey shows some consumer interest in cellphone media

Given the continued growth of the cameraphone market, it shouldn't come as any surprise that a new survey finds a large number of cellphone users are interested in getting other forms of digital media on their phones as well. In the survey of consumers who use both the Internet and cellphones, technology consultancy The Diffusion Group found that 42% would be interested in listening to music via their cellphones, while 30% would want to watch movies or other visual media. We actually thought the number for music would be higher, given the fact that cellphones are already wired for sound. But the fact that only 25% said they'd want digital music players on their cellphones shows that there may be a need for some consumer education when it comes to putting music on phones. Motorola-iTunes, anyone?
