Turn any flat surface into a speakerphone with the Qvoix

qvoix

Devices that can turn any flat surface into a mediocre speaker have been around for a while — the Olympia Soundbug made its debut on a window near you back in 2002. But that hasn't stopped developers from trying to improve on the idea, or at least knock it off. The latest is the Qvoix speaker system from Taiwan's Sinbon Electronics. What makes this a potentially useful gadget, rather than just a novelty like the Soundbug, is the fact that it has a built-in microphone, and Sinbon plans to offer cables to make it work with many cellphones. So, in theory, this could turn a conference room table into an instant speakerphone (or boombox). We have no idea how this actually sounds, though the Inq tried one out at Computex and found the bass to be impressive. If this is ever released anywhere outside of Taiwan, we'll be sure to check it out.
