What we're watching and why:

It's the official kick off of the 36th season of Monday Night Football -- on Thursday night. The Oakland Raiders play at the 2005 Super Bowl champion New England Patriots at 8 p.m. on ABC. Meanwhile, over at ESPN 2-HD at 7 is a match up between Oklahoma State and Florida Atlantic.
