Dec. 9: What's on HDTV today

What we're watching
:

I think TNT-HD has declared this the official "LOTR Week" and forgot to tell us. Earlier this week, they had the first installment of "Lord of the Rings" in high-def and tonight, they're showing the second movie in the trilogy. "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" starts up at 8 p.m. in 1080i. Aside from the awesome battle scenes, the cinematography really comes through with the beautiful backdrop of New Zealand.

If massive amounts of blood and guts in HD isn't your thing, we forgive you. We'll even give you a secondary pick: tune in to EquatorHD for two hours of travel in jolly ol' England. These 1080i presentations kick off at 8 and 9 p.m. with episodes of "Eye Over England".

After the jump is our traditional listing of HD programs throughout the night.
