Jacob Robida, 18, died on Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Prior to his death, Robida (pictured) had attacked patrons at a gay bar New Bedford using a hatchet and handgun, fled to Norfork, Arkansas, where he killed a traffic cop and later his passenger, 33 year-old Jennifer Rena Bailey, during a shootout with police. More information can be found here.

Tragic story, but why are we reporting this on a gaming blog? Paul Walsh, Prosecuting Attorney for Bristol Country, Massachusetts, today stated that, after looking at the search warrant for Robida's home, "the investigators turned up no video games...from the information we have here, there is no proof video games were involved," instead finding a notable amount of neo-Nazi propaganda. This statement rebukes a claim from Miami attorney Jack Thompson, who alerted Walsh that there was a connection between Robida's rampage and the infamous Grand Theft Auto franchise.

According to The Baxter Bulletin, Mr. Thompson is asking that Walsh "seize more information from Robida's room, or he will file a Writ of Mandamus to the compel the seizure."

[Update: Jack Thompson has posted four letters--two to The Baxter Bulletin and one each to Paul Walsh and Bono--in the comments of this post. And yes, it really is him and he really did use http://joystiqreadersaremorons.com as one of his links.]
