Game|Life's Chris Kohler details a pretty incredible thrift store haul in which
he managed to snag ten or so mint, original prints of classic NES games (three of which contain the original Famicom
boards jacked into an NES converter board) and a surprisingly rare Final Fight 3. As if his superhuman luck
wasn't already apparent, he got them all for $2 each.
As someone who has also spent a fair amount
of time scouring thrift stores for everything from clothes to books to records, I've never found a video game treasure
like this; at most a broken 2600, or an NES Zapper. But reading Kohler's tale is like reading about someone in your
town hitting the lottery: it can happen... just not to me.
My bad luck is well documented and irrefutable,
but what about yours? Any Joystiqers ever strike it rich at the local thrift store?
