Water your plants and change TV channels by mobile phone

Brian White

Want to call your sprinkler system and have it turn on while at work? How about remote control over the boob tube from that swanky new handset? Yeah, we know many a fan has converted the infrared port on many a phone to control entire home entertainment systems. But, this generally requires hacks that go above and beyond the norm. Strike a good one, then, for a new cellular-based invention from India. This baby allows all kinds of neat housekeeping tasks be completed right from that grand ole' phone. So, if you've been itching to have wireless control over that massive water and irrigation system, fear no more. We'll just call it "wireless watering". Note: two phones needed -- one to send commands and one to receive them and turn that water spigot into the open position.
