Lionsgate takes Kane & Lynch to the movies

Involving itself in an ever-growing web of Hollywood shenanigans, Variety reports that Eidos has sold the movie rights to Kane & Lynch to Lionsgate. The Michael Mann inspired buddy-shooter should be making its way to the Xbox 360 and PC platforms by the end of the year; however, the film is quite a ways off.

Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter will be producing Kane & Lynch, though they are currently involved with two other game-based productions. The duo was already working on another Eidos property (and probable spin-off to Kane & Lynch), Hitman, while their other project, The Rock'sSpy Hunter: Nowhere to Run, has languished in pre-production hell since before the ill-fated game ever came out.

So while we've been spared from the clutches of Dr. Uwe Boll this time, the chances of seeing Kane & Lynch on the big screen anytime soon are looking fairly slim.
