HD DVD and Blu-ray releases on April 24th, 2007

The biggest title for both formats this week is Planet Earth: The Complete Collection. Not only is this the best selling title for HD DVD ever, it also happens to hold the title for highest ranking next generation movie format on Amazon ever, yes even higher than Casino Royal. Part of the reason this title is so hot is because it is HD Video rather than a film transfer, which makes it particularly useful to show off any HD setup. Of course there are other big titles this week as well including the long awaited -- and delayed -- Digital Video Essentials. For those who don't know, this is the ultimate calibration tool for those lacking ISF certification, and considering Joe Kane is a HD DVD supporter there is little hope it will come to Blu-ray. Of course it's not all HD DVD this week, as Buena Vista has a few big titles including Deja Vu and The Queen. Blu-ray also gains a little loss ground after last week with a few more titles than HD DVD.

181 vs Blu-ray 210.
