VC Monday Madness video wrap-up 2/11/08

This week, we've added a bit to our coverage of the Virtual Console releases. Nothing major to alter how we do things here (we hear you're fine with how it is, but always feel free to let us know how we can improve!), but rather a small thing that we feel many of you will enjoy. So, hit up the video above, then be sure to head past the break for the rest of the coverage.

Lords of Thunder (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!

If there was any game that could prepare you more for the most dangerous things in life, like going to prison or fighting off several small opponents in a dark alley, then this would be it. We feel that to actually own a cartridge copy would mean nothing less than a lifetime of the most rigorous training routines, coupled with a can-do attitude and bloody knuckles that screamed to the world "I kick ass." This is that kind of game, one that transcends pixels and sprites, genres and controls, and instead attains a level of being on par with Slayer. This game now resides in the Hall of Metal Gods.

Seriously, download it.

Harvest Moon (SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!

Harvest Moon hasn't always been this blogger's kind of game, although I did enjoy a lot of The Sims and other titles in the genre. Then again, you can't take a person and build a doorless room around them, place in said room one stove and ask that person to cook until they burn themselves alive in Harvest Moon. But, there is still some kind of sick fascination that comes from properly feeding your chickens and macking to the honeys in the town square. For those that love to inhabit and maintain virtual worlds, Harvest Moon is a definite good time.

That concludes our look at this week's Virtual Console games. As always, if you have any tips or rumors regarding Nintendo's Virtual Console service, be sure to let us know and come back next week when we take a look at the latest titles available on the Nintendo Wii.
