WAR class info: High Elf Shadow Warrior

There's always a draw to the Elven races in MMOs, especially when they've got some seriously wicked personality. So when we saw this article we had to jump in head first and absorb all the information from within its gooey bowels. It's a long read, but we've got the skinny for your Warhammer Online needs -- including lore and class information. Be warned though, we may ramble on a bit about Shadow Warriors and how cool they're starting to sound.

Shadow Warriors can be traced far back to a time before the first invasion and subsequent war with Chaos. Back then, there were only elves -- no high or dark distinctions. These elves -- the Shadow Warriors -- originally called Nagarythe home, which is the land the Witch King Malekith rules over ruthlessly.

They agreed with the Witch King's ideals of being strong of body, loose of morals and ready for battle -- should the need ever arise. However once Malekith's eyes set on murdering the Phoenix King, it was the Shadow Warriors' sense of justice which caused them to fight against the Witch King. Don't be fooled, these High Elves are seen by their fellow High Elves as a mixed blessing for their questionable ways.

This is when a line was essentially drawn by Malekith's followers and those who disagreed with them. Enough with the lore stuff though, we're sure you wanna know about the class!

The Shadow Warrior is something of an all-purpose damage class. It offers players looking to be versatile in combat ability, however as far as high DPS goes the Shadow Warrior is inferior to other classes of its type. It's an advanced class that excels at making the best of any situation, utilizing different stances to be an effective combatant.

There are three stances for Shadow Warriors:

  • Scouting – A bow stance that plays like your classic ranged stationary type

  • Skirmish – A curious stance that still focuses on bow attacks, but at a shorter range and while moving

  • Assault – Melee stance which allows for offensive and defensive chocies, or basically lets you run away to safety if a big baddie runs up on you

With this basic design knowledge, you can see the benefit to this type of class. Being able to flip between these three stances offers extensive flexibility during combat. However, it comes at the price of never being the best at direct damage per second. This is definitely a more advanced class, but for seasoned players looking for lots of variety to their damage-dealing it's an easy pick.
