iPad descends upon 9 countries on May 28

Earlier this morning we noted that the iPad will be made available in Australia on May 28th. Fortunately for other international shoppers, Apple's announcement wasn't restricted to Australia. In fact, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will all have iPads available for sale on the 28th. Pre-orders are being taken as of today, May 10th.

Last month, Apple announced that the iPad's international availability would be pushed back to "late May," citing high initial demand. "Demand is far higher than we predicted," Apple's press release read, "and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad." At that time Apple promised that pre-orders would begin on May 10th, which they have.

Congratulations to Apple's worker bees for getting those things out the door. To our international friends: prepare to get nothing accomplished on the 28th.
