WRUP on into GDC 2011

Next week we'll be covering Game Developers Conference 2011, the first populous gaming convention of the year. Expected highlights are the keynote by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and the GDC Awards, but there are always surprise announcements when one has a confluence of devs, marketing and press.

What's everyone playing this weekend?

• Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): So Marvel vs. Capcom 3 just didn't click, but I did end up getting into League of Legends. It's free and fun enough if you play with some folks you know. Gonna play some Civ 5 if I find the time.

• Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): Ludwig and I have already eaten some fantastic cookies from Cups NYC. There are plans to go to Max Brenner's, find some good cheesecake, and eventually drink some milk shakes from Shake Shack. Oh, and we'll be playing PixelJunk Shooter 2 and Rock Band 3.

• Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): Spending most of Saturday with Virgin America heading out to GDC. Maybe I'll play Doom on their crazy seat consoles! Realistically, I'll catch up on old Wired issues and preview writing, and continue dominating other Joystiqers on the Tilt to Live leaderboards.

• Chris Buffa (@ChrisBuffa): Definitely playing Tiny Wings for the iPhone, which has become my latest addiction. Also hope to get on a console for some Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and perhaps Bulletstorm.

• Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): I'll be on an aeroplane come Sunday, which means it's time to dig back into Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker and whatever iPhone game tickles my fancy ... been hearing a lot about Tiny Wings. As for Saturday, going to finish up that Red Dead co-op content and shoot the final level of Bulletstorm in the dick.

• David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): Most of my weekend will be spent sprucing up San Francisco, making sure my colleagues have a nice city to greet them. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some cigarette butts on 3rd st. to go clean up.

• Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): Between Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Pokemon Black, it'll be a weekend of absolute obsession.

• James Ransom-Wiley: Gonna keep making my way slowly, carefully through the Sprawl.

• JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): I'm playing "Scramble: GDC Edition." I'm optimistically setting my sights on starting the Yakuza 4 demo this weekend, as well.

• Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): Probably some more Bulletstorm, which I'll be using to test out Razer's Chimaera headphones. Also, Dragon Age 2 is supposed to come this weekend. When I slip into dreamland, I'll be playing Skyrim ... with Don Rickles ... and I'll be allowed to eat carbs.

• Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): [Hanging out in Amerikuh]

• Mike Schramm (@MikeSchramm): I'm back on the MMO tip lately, playing through both WoW: Cataclysm and the Rift head start this weekend.

• Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin): Now that I've successfully "Boot Camped" my MacBook, I'm looking to make up for some lost time with League of Legends.

• Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Hopefully some Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and some Dead Space 2. Definitely You Don't Know Jack. Mayyyybe some League of Legends.
