The Queue: Hello, patch 4.3

Ysera

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Last night was quite a night, wasn't it? If you've been out of the loop since midnight last night (and I wouldn't blame you), you likely missed the major bits of patch 4.3 news that broke when Blizzard's press embargo expired. If you did miss it, here's a quick recap before our Q&A:

With that out of the way, I took a few patch 4.3 questions from Twitter for today's edition of The Queue. Onward!

Silversol asked:

Will my VP turn into faceless ones and start serving the old gods before 4.3?

Absolutely.

@AngeloFernandez asked:

Do you think the 3 new dungeons coming out will have normal modes or just heroics like ZA/ZG?

My assumption is that they will be heroic-only like Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub, but we won't know for sure until we see them on the PTR. If they're meant to provide 5-man progression, it would be strange for them to appear as normal dungeons, especially when ZA/ZG don't.

@fallenwiccan asked:

Why did blizzard release fight details before the PTR? Seems odd to me.

Why not release them prior to the PTR? Personally, I think it's in Blizzard's best interest to release them prior to the PTR. First, it fuels their hype machine. Blizzard wouldn't give out interviews all over the place if they didn't want it to attract attention. Telling people that patch 4.3's raid zone involves flying across the world on Deathwing's back is absolutely going to grab attention.

Second, Blizzard needs to stay ahead of the dataminers if it wants players to receive the bigger picture of a patch feature. Datamining is fun, but it can have an unfortunate side effect of building incorrect expectations. If you're a dataminer in the business of sharing that data, you also need to put the puzzle pieces together and try to figure out what they mean. Usually they get it right. Sometimes they don't. When they don't, it causes problems. Blizzard's giving an explanation of what's going on before we get our hands on a PTR client is a good idea.

@nmellon asked:

should I sell my pyrite ore? Seems that epic gems wont be prospectable afterall

You probably should, but I'm going to hold onto mine until the PTR goes up at the very least. You never know what Blizzard may decide. Pyrite Ore may turn out to be an alternate source of epic gems after all. Or it may not. It's too early to say.

@tomxtchen asked:

what is the alliance version of that lvl 60 dungeon where u save thrall in Cavern of Time? Do they save thrall too?

It's a level 70 dungeon and yes, the Alliance saves Thrall, too. It's a bit weird, really. The Alliance does a lot of propping up the Horde in the Caverns of Time.

Oh, and before I go -- apparently, it's Krotzer's birthday. Someone give him his birthday punches. People still do that nowadays, right? It's also Anne's birthday. Don't punch her, though.
