WRUP: Feb. 3, 2012

Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!

Today is Feb. 3, 2012. That probably doesn't seem exciting now. But someday in the future -- probably somewhere around April 12, 2038 (give or take) -- the idea of revisiting Feb. 3, 2012, will be so exciting. A trip to the past! What pop culture relics would our future selves uncover (and then mock)?!

The idea of a non-self-aware Facebook will seem quaint. We'll be in disbelief that we still powered our cars on dead dinosaurs. And Lana Del Rey?! What fools we were.

There's one thing we can take solace in, though. No matter what aspect of 2012 those time travelers from 2038 see, nothing can be as ridiculous as that song I posted above with the dancing robot. Nothing. (OK, maybe Lady Gaga compares.)

Enough about the past and future. It's Feb. 3, 2012. And dammit, we're going to WRUP in the here and now. This week's bonus question: Who is your favorite in-game NPC?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) Bookcase is finished, so I'll be working on my room this weekend in between entertaining family. I've got a wall I need to stencil before the bookcase can go up. And furniture that needs to be arranged, which means that I have to find someplace for all the books that are in my room right now. ... This is a pain in the rear end because I have roughly a million and a half books, but oh well! In between that, more raiding in WoW. Bonus: Ugh, making me pick is terrible. So many new NPCs to love. Right now, I think it's tied between Mylune because she's hysterical, Wrathion because he is awesome, and Fiasco Sizzlegrin because I absolutely love his name.

Chase Christian (@madsushi) I am playing a lot of Diablo II. I'm hosting an ironman hardcore Diablo II tournament for my friends during the Super Bowl! Bonus: Definitely Apothecary Chase, one of the original poison masters.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) I'll probably do some hard modes in SWTOR, and I think I signed up for an Eternity Vault run too. However, I hope to bump up the difficulty in Magic 2012 this weekend, see if I can't win a few matches on Planeswalker and not get served by Tezzeret. As for the bonus, I'm with Robin on this one -- Sylvanas has to be my favorite Warcraft character, mainly because you never know what really drives her, and that mystery keeps my interest.

Daniel Whitcomb (@DanielWhitcomb) I finally got into the Diablo III beta. Already tried out a Wizard and a Witch Doctor, so I'll probably spend the weekend checking out the other classes. Of course, there's also SWTOR, so I'll probably play there a little, maybe finally run my Trooper through the Illum Flashpoints if I can get a group. Then, of course, there's always running my alts through Raid Finder in WoW.

As far as favorite NPCs go, I think Joanna Blueheart may be it. She's righteous and honorable, but she's also incredibly effective as a tactician and fighter, and she's not going to insult our intelligence by pretending the war with the Horde is petty or trivial. On the contrary, she's out fighting them back. Basically, she's the type of hero the Alliance has needed ever since vanilla WoW, if not further back.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm working nights, and I strongly suspect that my computer will be appropriated by another medic who I started on Bioshock last shift. So most likely, nothing. I love all the NPCs in the goblin starting area, but Sassy Hardwrench is probably my favorite.

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) I really just want to stay in my warm, cozy room, get out my old Sega Master System, and play Fantasy Zone 2 the way it was never meant to be played -- on a 46" flat-screen TV.

My favorite NPC? Fox. There is literally no way to prove that's not an in-game homage to me. Literally no way. Plus, the dance I do ... it's killer.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) LoL with the new champion Ziggs! He cackles as he runs around with bombs strapped to him. It's my kind of champion. SWTOR, still need to find a group to do The Foundry with. And LFR with my hunter.

As far as my favorite NPC in WoW goes, it's hard to say because every time I name one, they go ahead and kill them off. RIP, Cairne and Magni. *pours a little of his Darkmoon Special Reserve on the ground*

Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend. Like, none. I'm bored enough with anything in WoW that isn't raiding that I might play Rift now that the first 20 levels are free-to-play. As for in-game NPCs, I probably spend the most time with Grandmaster Training Dummy, so that's my choice.

Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) If I can make it to the weekend conscious and coherent, then I'll consider that a win. I'm doing a lot of extracurricular activities for work, and I'm pretty wiped out. I'm going to try and get ... something in. Something entertaining. I don't know what that is yet. Favorite NPC? Millhouse Manastorm. High Overlord Saurfang is a close second.

Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo) I am sick as a dog. I have no idea where this came from. Send medical supplies. I'll do my transmog runs for WoW this weekend while recuperating. SW:TOR, LoL, and other games will factor in as well, but I think I'm going to be sleeping most of the weekend. My favorite NPC is Saurfang. No explanation needed, really.

Matthew Rossi (@matthewrossi) I will be playing SWTOR and WoW, mostly. Maybe some Skyrim or going back to ME2 to get ready for ME3. But I expect my wife will have dibs on ME3. My favorite in-game NPC is Darius Crowley, Lord of Silverpine and future king of Lordaeron.

Michael Gray (@writegray) This weekend, I'll be hitting up Diablo III and maybe Star Wars. Bonus: I'm holding out for a Throgg/Lolegolas, for I art petty.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I'm going to be Arenaing, raiding Sunday night, and playing a bit of LA Noire -- it's the first not-WoW game I've enjoyed in a while. Quite fun, now I've wired an Xbox controller to my laptop. And my favorite NPC is clearly Olivia, the little draenei of Olivia's Pond fame!

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I'm going to complete To Honor One's Elders on my druid if it kills me. She only needs three more events in order to get the meta and I feel like a slacker for not doing it. Otherwise, I'll be going stabby, stabby, heal, heal in SW:TOR and I'll be fondling yarn at all of the Super Bowl yarn store sales this weekend. The Dark Lady is my favorite NPC by far. She moves me.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play

World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
