The Queue: She'll chew you up

Michael Sacco

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

So what if I just keep using Hall & Oates songs as the header for The Queue? Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Zarabeth asked:

what is the War against the Lich King called? the war against the Qiraji was called the war of the shifting sands, and then you have the war of the ancients, what was that one specifically called?

It seems to be referred to in the fiction as the Northrend Campaign, but I don't think there really is an official term for it yet. After all, we didn't call it "World War I" when it was happening.

solitha asked:

At some point a Blue put up a post, something rather unexpected, about all the choices MoP would offer the average person on a given evening playing WoW. I can't find it now, but I think there was also a story about it here, and I'm sure someone can pin it down.

One of the activities mentioned caught my eye - it sounded something like a solo-run scenario. However, I haven't seen anything about it anywhere since. Has there been anything more said about such a thing? I wish I could remember what the post called them.

They were called "Proving Grounds" in said blue post, but we haven't heard anything else about that subject since then (or before it, either). That might be a good thing to ask on the official forums: "What the heck are Proving Grounds, dude?"

jorn86 asked:

Does anyone know why the WoW Mists Beta launcher and the Diablo III launcher can't run at the same time? I get a message saying just that when one is running and I start the other.

They're both the same program, actually. They get skinned differently for each game, but yeah. Blizzard likely doesn't want multiple copies of the program running, since they could feasibly both be affecting the same set of files.

Koboi_K asked:

I'm not particularly good on the topic of mergers and acquisitions. But could it be that the delay in the release date announcement is in some way related to Vivendi's plans to sell their shares on Activision Blizzard?

Unlikely. If anything, this would be Activision's chance to continue making a bundle of money before the sale. I think they're just not ready to announce it yet, but we must be very close to the announcement day, in any event. With the cinematic's being unveiled a few weeks from now, the game itself can't be too far off.
