Rocksmith coming to Steam

Finally, you can use a computer for educational purposes. Rocksmith, the guitar teaching game originally released on Xbox 360 and PS3 by Ubisoft, is coming to Steam (and PC retail) October 16. There's a beta going on right now for pre-purchasers on Steam, though the digital version requires purchase of the necessary Realtone cable separately.

Pre-purchasers also get virtual "Heavy Metal Gear" including simulated amps and effect pedals, and an immediate unlock of the "Guitarcade" mini-games. The recommended leather pants are not included with either pre-purchases or day one purchases, but perhaps your leather office chair is close enough.

WHAT: Today, Ubisoft announced that the digital PC version of Rocksmith is now available for pre-purchase on the popular digital distributor Steam. In anticipation of its digital release, all pre-purchases of Rocksmith will receive immediate access to the closed Beta and two extra in-game packs available with the full game.

The closed Beta will include all the features of the upcoming digital PC release. Enjoy learning and playing all of Rocksmith's songs, perfecting your skills in the Guitarcade minigames, crafting custom tones in Amp mode, and more! The Beta will end on October 12, 2012.

The two extra in-game packs will unlock on October 16, 2012 and include a Heavy Metal gear pack and a set of Guitarcade Mini-Games:

By plugging your own guitar into the PC, Rocksmith offers players to develop real skills while playing real music.

The Real Tone Cable required for gameplay is not included with the purchase of Rocksmith on Steam and must be purchased separately.
