One Shots: Angry red moon

Final Fantasy XIV is due for a cataclysmic revamp and reboot in just a few short months, so what better time to feature it than now? Massively reader Cyndair emailed One Shots this image from the doomed current version of the game:

Here's a shot of the angry red moon, Dalamud, overlooking the Rivenroad battlefield, site of the final confrontation with FFXIV 1.x's main protagonist, Nael Van Darnus.

Truly breathtaking shot, Cyndair. It's behind the break with a few more reader submissions!

Our next image, from Andrew, shows off what you can accomplish with DC Universe Online's impressive character customization. "This is a shot one of my hero characters, Highwire, doing his best impression of an evil supervillain," he says. Looks more like a certain vigilante to me!

This Star Wars: The Old Republic screenshot popped out at me because of its lovely, watercolory depth. It hardly looks like a game at all. Reader Cimeas tells us it was taken on Quesh, his favorite planet in the game. Why? "This vista, with its harsh, orange sunset at the edge of a blackened sky, reminds me why I find the world so appealing."

Rounding out this week's submitters is Siby, who says he snapped this pic while he was doing missions in Egypt in The Secret World. "I know Guild Wars 2 is the wonder child of the MMO world at the moment," he writes, "and I have a copy to play myself. But people need to support TSW if they want to see different types of games in the genre."

We're always looking for screenshots, especially those from obscure games or new releases. Why not send us some ancient pics from games long gone or games soon to sunset?

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
