New and notable apps in the iOS and OS X App Store

Besides a bunch of updated apps, there are several new and notable apps that hit the iOS and OS X App Store in the past few days. Here is our list of those apps that are worth a spot on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Recall - Reminders for Recommendations- (iPhone: $0.99)

Recall is an iPhone app that'll help you remember recommendations. You can save music, movies, TV shows, apps, books and more that you want to remember for later. It's especially useful for the iOS App Store which doesn't have a built-in wish list.

The Magazine: For Geeks Like Us (iOS Universal: Free)

The Magazine is a new publication from Instapaper creator Marco Arment that's tailor-made for geeks. The content focuses on thoughtful, long-form editorials, instead of short news blurbs. Issues are available on a subscription basis for $1.99 per month. You can get a free seven-day trial to try it out.

Crazy Taxi (iOS Universal: $4.99)

Remember Sega's Crazy Taxi game that hit the arcades in the 1990s and game consoles in the 2000s? Now you can hone your taxi driving skills in a version made especially for the iPhone and iPad.

Monopoly Millionaire (iOS Universal: $2.99)

Monopoly Millionaire from EA is a fast and fresh take on the Monopoly game that has you vying for luxury apartments, yachts and millions of moolah.

Lotsa Blocks (iOS Universal: $0.99)

Losta Blocks is a colorful block stacking game that challenges you to stack differently shaped blocks into a growing and, hopefully, stable tower. You can play alone or against your friends via Game Center.

Mirrorgram (iPhone: $0.99)

Mirrorgram is a slick iPhone app that'll produce dizzying mirror images of any photo.

Pocket Planes (OS X: Free)

As mentioned earlier this week, Pocket Planes is now available for OS X. The freemium title is a casual airline sim that lets you build and customize a fleet of planes. You can play against friends and even sync games across your iOS and OS X devices.
