The Stream Team: October 22 - 28, 2012

MJ Guthrie

I'm leaving on a jet plane. Don't know when I can game again...

Have you ever had to sing the can't-get-my-MMO-fix blues due to travel? Whether caused by a short weekend jaunt or a long vacation, the inability to log into your favorite games can be a hard thing to bear. But even if you don't have access to your games, access to the internet will help you keep your withdrawls at bay since you can watch The Stream Team.

That's right folks; we are here for you! Hook on up to Massively TV and let the IV of vicarious gaming drip into your system. There are plenty of doses this week. You'll even notice one stream teammate is queuing up to play the game you requested last week! And of course, if you feel you need more medicine, add some of extra streams to your treatment regime.

For an added laugh (another worthy cure-all!), read some of the weird places folks have logged in to get their MMO fix. And don't forget to share your own!

5:00 p.m. EDT: Beau -- Darkfall
It's important to get a good look at Darkfall before it shuts down and restarts itself. What will Beau find? Well, he knows how pretty the game is and how fun it can be to play, but he also know that it has been a long, long time since he really played. Let's hope this works out!

7:00 p.m. EDT: Mike -- EVE Online
Space may be the final frontier, but Mike has seen only a tiny part of what EVE Online's dark, inky depths have to offer. Tune in this week for an up-close and personal look at the world of EVE PvE as Mike loads up his trusty Drake and takes on a few higher-tier security missions. Explosions are promised.

5:00 p.m. EDT: Beau -- Parallel Kingdom
Join Beau as he sits down with a rep from the PerBlue team to discuss the past, present, and very near future of this wonderful multi-platform MMO. Like sandboxes? Like real-life location gaming? Then this stream is for you! No, I mean you!

2:30 p.m. EDT: Blake -- SMITE
Well, the surprise was blown last week when EA decided to not accept Blake's payment for The Old Republic. That's fine with him. He's moving on to a new regular game in Lunchtime Livecast #38: Hi-Rez's new free-to-play MOBA, SMITE! Check out the brand-new god Freya in this week's show!

5:00 p.m. EDT: Beau -- Lord of the Rings Online
Join Beau and a member of the LotRO community team as they explore the game, together... sort of like Sam and Frodo. Or possibly, more like Sauron and one of the Nine or Gandalf and Aragorn. You get the picture. Feel free to join in the chat room and ask your own questions!

7:00 p.m. EDT: Mike -- World of Tanks

There's something inescapably fun about crashing down a hill in an enormous armored vehicle, smashing into enemies, and firing off massive shells all the while. Join Mike as he demonstrates the basics of tank driving and enemy destruction while trying to avoid falling off a cliff or accidentally drowning his crew. Can he snatch victory from the jaws of defeat (Hint: No).

8:00 a.m. EDT: David "Psykopig" Desi -- Guild Wars 2
A tree is as a tree does! Join in as Psykopig uncovers what it means to Be A Tree. He is searching high and low for a time and a place he does not die every 30 seconds. Will he succeed this week? Tune in to find out!

10:00 a.m. & 11 a.m. EDT: Richie -- Guild Wars 2
Richie is ready to explore the first content patch for Guild Wars 2, and act 2 of the Mad King's Halloween event will just be getting underway during his show. Let's find out what kind of surprises ArenaNet has in store for us during this spooktacular two-hour stream. As always, if you're on the Blackgate server, feel free to play right along with him.

7:00 p.m. EDT: Mike -- Pirate101
Mike's adventures in the high skies continue this week as he delves deeper into the world of The Spiral and heads out in search of fame, fortune, and pirate's booty. Pirate101 is a kid-friendly game but has a lot to offer grown-up players looking for something outside of the normal grind. Hang out with Mike and check it out!

8:00 a.m. EDT: David "Psykopig" Desi -- The Secret World
Can you keep a secret? Well don't! It's Psykopig's Saturday Secret World Show! Tune in to see all the myth action, all the myth questions, and all the myth-takes one can make within an hour of game playing! SQUEEE!

Sunday, sundae. Instead of watching your favorite games today, jump in and play it! Delectible ice cream confections are optional.

Decisions, decisions: Head to Las Vegas and indulge in video game convention nirvana or stay home and watch The Stream Team work its live-action goodness? There is no wrong choice here! But for all those whose choice forced them to miss some of their favorite streamers, here's a click-easy guide to what happened this past week in Massively gaming.

And don't forget a special 24 hours of various games with The Beau Show.

Having to travel this past week and balance my laptop on a tiny tray (that was not in the upright position), my brain started wondering about all the different places we log into our favorite games in order to play. Of course, there is the standard desktop PC sitting on a desk. But with laptops and more and more games working on mobile devices, the list of where you can game is growing. So tell us, Massively readers -- what is the weirdest or most unique place you have logged in to play your favorite MMO? Share your answers, and I will share mine!

Watching the Massively Stream Team play video games is the next best thing to playing them yourself! Join us every Monday morning for MJ's guide to this week's livestream schedule, classic stream reruns from last week, and all the best outtakes and ephemera.
