WRUP: Things I am no longer allowed to do in work chat edition

I am absolutely not allowed to talk about Transformers. Because it would never stop. Shattered Glass is right off the table.

I consider myself to be a professional worker as long as I'm not around my co-workers. As a result, there are certain things that I am no longer allowed to do in the Massively work chat. For example, I am not allowed to make a horrible pun and then immediately play a sound effect from Won't Get Fooled Again. I am not allowed to change the room's title to "Flapjack And His Orchestra." I am not allowed to speak in all caps while talking like what people in 2010 thought street pimps from 1992 sounded like.

I am also not allowed to post pictures of my cat attacking My Little Pony figures, make references to Mr. Show, or insist that I be addressed as the master of cheese wheels. A new ban has been added to prevent me from discussing cabinet-making in an obscene manner, but that was really only half my fault.

What I am allowed to do is introduce WRUP, which I'm doing right now. Check out our plans past the break, and let us know what you'll be up to in the comments!

Beau Hindman, F2P and Mobile Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'm going to be switching to Akaneiro for Rise and Shiny. It's an interesting-looking game with a familiar design, but its action-based combat looks fun. I'll also continue to work on my list of browser-based titles. There are so many out there that I am trying to break them down into HTML5 games and others. I'll be doing the same for Android or iOS games. One day I want to publish the lists as a reference for readers who ask me for recommendations!

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I was hyped to play Neverwinter until I saw character creation in person. Now I'm just kind of down on it and its weird Lord of the Rings Online-clone fonts. What's with that? Anyway, I might play a bit of Guild Wars 2 this weekend. Playing World of Warcraft for a month just kept reminding me of GW2 features I really missed.

David Desi, Multimedia Contributor

@PsykopigAU: I'm gonna try to squeeze in some sweet Star Wars: The Old Republic this weekend as I haven't had too many chances to play. Powering through my Bounty Hunter who is rocking on Hoth at the moment!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: The two games I really want to play after this week are Final Fantasy XIV and WildStar... both of which are not options. So instead it's SWTOR and The Secret World. As consolation prizes go, that's not bad. I'll also be getting ready for a gaming-related trip next week; when I get back, I'll tell you all about it.

Elisabeth Cardy, Guild Wars 2 Columnist and Contributing Editor

@elixabethclaire: I'll be playing Guild Wars 2 this weekend. I'm a double-handful of levels away from getting my Guardian to 80, so I'm hoping I can push through for that. I'm also fiddling about with Path of Exile -- I'm enjoying the Duelist so far.

Jasmine Hruschak, Multimedia Contributor

@irljasmine: My weekend will consist of Neverwinter beta as far as the eye can see. I'll be pushing my Tiefling rogue to higher levels, trying out the other classes, and filling my hard drive with screenshots. Also, let's be honest, I'll be spending a solid five hours in the character creator. There's a thigh slider! A thigh slider.

Jef Reahard, Managing Editor and Columnist Extraordinaire

@jefreahard: There's a little bit of EverQuest II and a lot of Skyrim: Dragonborn in my immediate future. Also, downloading the thigh sliders beta just became a priority.

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: Chances are good -- somewhere on the order of 100% -- that I'll be poking around in Neverwinter's beta this weekend. I'm liking what I'm finding so far, although it's not without its, er, quirks. I'm also on a roll in Lord of the Rings Online and really hope to get a move on to the Eaves of Fangorn soon. But the alts! They call to me! And I, I must answer.

Karen Bryan, Guild and Family Columnist

@JayeRnH: I'll be playing A Tale in the Desert and continuing to get the know the game for Choose My Adventure. It looks like I'll be trying my hand at art and sculpture based on the votes, although I will probably dabble in the politics a bit as well. I'm also going back through some older kid-friendly MMOs that haven't had much press lately for a future MMO Family roundup.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: Board games are the primary aim of the weekend, but if I have time to sit down at the old computer, I'll be checking out Firefall and a bit of World of Warcraft. I'm also sort of obsessed with Borderlands 2 again, which can't be good.

Patrick Mackey, League of Legends and Age of Wushu Columnist

@mackeypb: I'll be doing what I usually do, which basically means League of Legends, Age of Wushu, and Guild Wars 2. I haven't put enough LoL in lately (roughly a game a day, eww) because of the other two games, which are both loads of fun. In GW2, I'm roaming around the newbie zones on my Ranger, clearing some of them out and exploring. I'm in my early 20s (22 I think?) and I'm enjoying my Ranger a lot. In AoW, I am working on learning Taiji Sword, which is really expensive. I end up spending a lot of time offline just to vendor my stuff, which gives me more time to play my other games.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend, I'll be going back to my pen and paper roots and playing some Neverwinter beta. It's always great to return to the Forgotten Realms campaign settings every few years or so to check out a new game. It's like that old chair you can't get rid of or that woobie your child sleeps with even though you wouldn't touch it even if your life depended on it. So, yeah, I'll be playing that this weekend.

Shawn Schuster, Senior Editor

@Epykbeard: I'll be playing a bit of the Neverwinter beta and continuing my obsession with leveling my Guild Wars 2 alts instead of finishing my main's storyline. Of course, this could all change if my wife goes into labor, which could happen any day now!

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: While I will be wrapping up the anniversary events with a few low-level alts in Star Trek Online, I have to admit I've been dabbling and will likely jump around between Neverwinter, The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, and Lord of the Rings Online. I can't help it. A new computer means new ability to play things I couldn't before!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
