WRUP: A glance at Paragon City edition

I'd like to think that after it all ends things are still basically all right. That the world grows a bit smaller, that everyone is more aware of that shrinkage, but there's still a general sense of peace. From now to forever.

It's a lot quieter in City of Heroes these days without all the heroes around. A lot more boring. But it's all right, after a fashion. Bringing over the old Praetorian Police seemed like an iffy idea, but it's turned out to work well, and ultimately the two worlds have learned to work together. Sometimes there's a bit too much zeal involved, but old habits die hard, and everyone's keeping an eye open.

As for the heroes, no one knows quite where they went. Some people are guessing that they ascended to some deific plane of existence; others figured that they just left when they weren't needed. The favored theory is that they're needed elsewhere, that after the Praetorian invasion they found someplace in greater need of heroes. There's no memorial in the city, but that's because everyone still remembers.

Not every random WRUP opening needs to be funny. Don't worry, we saved some jokes for our weekend plans just past the break. Let us know what you'll be up to in the comments.

Beau Hindman, F2P and Mobile Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'm jumping back into Mabinogi for my annual Rise and Shiny revisit next week. Nexon changed some of the cash-shop policies, so I'm eager to see how they have effected the game. I also really want to join a tank battalion in PlanetSide 2; I played in a large group the other night and we all used only tanks. It was freaking glorious. Other than that, I'll be jumping into a few different MUDs as part of my MUD May coverage!

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I don't really know where I'll be this weekend. I sort of need a little break from Guild Wars 2 after a month of farming baubles (my fault, not the game's). Maybe I'll dig through a pile of Steam games and refresh my MMO brain.

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Do I still have things to do in Star Wars: The Old Republic? Yes. Yes I do. Other than that, I'm going to duck into some of my single-player titles, since the other two games I really want to be playing right now are not within my grasp. Alas.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: I'm busy, but I'll try to dig on some Defiance and take a few runs at some World of Warcraft dungeons. If only I could play either from my iPad!

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I will be getting in as much The Secret World time as I can, especially with double AP this weekend. I am sure I will be putting a few more pieces together in my latest decorating project in EverQuest II. And once the Choose My Adventure vote closes, it's off to Darkfall to make my character! You know me -- even with sparse customization options it will take me a while.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend I'll split time between Neverwinter and Guild Wars 2. I'll play my devoted cleric in Neverwinter because it's the new shiny, but I really need to farm the new Molten Weapon Facility in Guild Wars 2, because I want an epic jet-pack skin to wear on my back. Don't judge me. It's a jet-pack!

Shawn Schuster, Senior Editor

@Epykbeard: For me it's Neverwinter on my control wizard and Defiance on my... shooty person. I also just patched PlanetSide 2, so I'm excited about trying the new goodies while dying more than I should.

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: For me it's more Tribble test server on Star Trek Online to take a look at more stuff that's been pushed this week. I'll also be dabbling in Neverwinter. I have a control wizard that I'm really having fun with. Finally I'll be back into Lord of the Rings Online. They've extended the Anniversary event which gives me just enough time to get the new teal firework steed for my burglar.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
