Toshiba refreshes its PC lineup with new mainstream notebooks, a gaming laptop

If you're going to unveil a completely refreshed PC lineup, you may as well do it the week Intel launches some new processors (and, you know, the week a big computer show is going on). Toshiba just announced a slew of new models, including an all-in-one, a redesigned gaming notebook and mainstream laptops in various sizes. It'd be silly to overwhelm you with details right here, since everything from the designs to the GPUs have changed, but if you follow us past the break we've got a neat summary of everything Toshiba introduced today, complete with pricing, specs and a few hands-on photos too.

  • Qosmio X75. With a gunmetal-gray chassis and glowing red accents, the Qosmio X75 doesn't look that different from Toshiba's previous gaming notebooks. Curiously, Toshiba nixed the 3D display this time around -- it's just a garden-variety 17.3-inch, 1080p panel. Under the hood, it runs a Haswell Core i7 processor and a 3GB NVIDIA GeForce 770M GPU, with support for up to 32GB of RAM, thanks to four open memory bays. Storage-wise, you've got some options: you can load up to 1.25TB of HDD space, though an SSD is also an option. Toshiba's also upgraded the machine with an HDMI 1.4 port for outputting 4K content -- not that you have any yet. Lastly, you'll find full copies of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements, just like on the new Kirabook. Look for it June 10th starting at $1,550.%Gallery-190195%

  • Satellite P series. P is for "premium," folks: this is the best Toshiba has to offer. Available exclusively at Best Buy, the P series includes 15- and 17-inch models, which come stocked with an HDMI 1.4 port, Harman Kardon speakers with DTS sound, Sleep-and-Charge / Sleep-and-Music connections and a brushed-aluminum chassis that's said to be up to 25 percent thinner than the last-gen models. Internals include i5 and i7 processors, as well as AMD's A10 chip. You can also get it with up to 1TB of storage and an optional 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 740M GPU. Sadly, 1,920 x 1,080 screens aren't standard here, though they're at least offered as an option. As for touch capabilities, the 15-inch version will come in both touch-and non-touch flavors, though the 17-incher is non-touch only. No official word on price, though a Toshiba rep estimated the starting MSRP might fall in the neighborhood of $800.%Gallery-189976%%Gallery-190194%

  • Satellite S series. Similar to the P series, the S laptops are partially made of aluminum, except here the keyboard is offset with glossy plastic (previous Satellite laptops looked like this as well). The screen sizes run the gamut from 14 to 17 inches, but you'll have your pick of Haswell processors either way. Depending on the model, it will also be available with a touchscreen, Blu-ray drive and discrete graphics (NVIDIA's 2GB 740M GPU, to be precise). Backlit keyboards and Harman Kardon audio are also standard. Unfortunately, though, the base screen resolution is rather limited: 1,366 x 768 for the 14- and 15-inch models, and 1,600 x 900 for the 17-incher. (The 15- and 17-inch variants will be offered with 1080p panels at the high end.) No word on price here either, but obviously, you can expect these guys to cost a bit less than their P series counterparts.%Gallery-189977%%Gallery-190193%

  • Satellite C series. Toshiba's entry-level range, the C series, has been done over with a smoother finish and a sturdier keyboard (or so says Toshiba, anyway). Available in 15- and 17-inch screen sizes, the C series starts at $399 with modest specs: a Pentium processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. If you're willing to pay a bit more, though, it will be available with Core i3 and AMD A4 / A6 processors and up to 750GB of storage. Touchscreens are optional too -- a surprise in this price bracket. As for battery life, you're looking at anywhere between 3.5 and five hours, depending on the processor and screen size.   • Satellite L series. As ever, the L series sits a notch above the C series -- more of a mainstream sort of product. For the money ($600 and up), you step up to a chiclet keyboard, chambered speakers, multiple USB 3.0 ports (as opposed to just one), a larger trackpad and beefier specs (Core i3 through i7 processors, and 500GB to 1TB of storage). Like the C series, this will be available in touch and non-touch configurations. And, similar to the higher-end S series, it will be offered in two different chassis sizes. These will be available this month along with the rest, with prices starting at $600 and expected to top out around $800 or so.

PX35t All-In-One: High-Definition Multimedia Hub for the Home or Dorm Room

More than a mere PC, the PX35t All-In-One Touchscreen Desktop is a PC and multimedia machine combined into one sleekly designed system. It's easy to set up, striking to look at, and uses little desk space. It also includes a huge 23-inch diagonal, Full HD 1080p touchscreen display, a premium sound system and performance-driven features for effortless multitasking, stunning HD entertainment and better digital content creation.
