WRUP: What we're excited about in patch 5.4

WRUP What we're excited about in patch 54

Well, the Siege of Orgrimmar is swiftly becoming a real thing. While we clearly don't know any official dates, we're hearing more and more about patch 5.4 seemingly every day. With that in mind, we ask your intrepid WoW Insider staff to tell us their favorite part of the patch. After all, everyone's a little different, and we all get excited about different things. Me, for example? I feel like patch 5.4 is more fun to say than patch 5.3. The f song runs off the tongue better.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) It is murderously hot out here, so I'm going to stay indoors, because the 100+ degree weather shows no signs of stopping. Ick! I think this weekend may be dedicated to a cleaning frenzy. It's been a while since I've had one of those. Bonus: I really like Garrosh's story. I'm kind of apprehensive on how it's going to play out in the end -- I really hope we don't end up killing him. I think there's a lot more there to explore, and way more interesting possibilities if he's kept alive.

Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) I had my wisdom teeth pulled this week, which has given me some free time to actually get some writing done for the first time in a while. Yay for silver linings. I also spent a bunch of time playing Wii with my son; He's finally learning how to control the Wiimote + Nunchuk, so I'm covering him as best I can as he Leeroys through Skylanders.

I'm very meh about the storyline, mostly because I hate Designated Villains. There better be some grand conspiracy/secret boss/something that explains why Garrosh went from "conflicted" to "college fratboy," or I'll be quite annoyed. Also, the Alliance better get a sizable concession for helping the Horde fix their political problems...again.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) No idea, really. Let's say Knights of Pen and Paper, though it gets tedious pretty quickly. Maybe some Borderlands 2 after that.

Someone says Garrosh needs to die. They try to tell me a stable Horde will make for a better Azeroth. They don't say whether or not he has a family, any children to carry on the Hellscream name. But I'll be damned if he isn't loaded to the fel-free gills with purples, and you know what? That's good enough for me.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) My Shaman is fast approaching level 90, so I'll probably go ahead and work on getting her the rest of the way there. As for me, I actively dislike the Garrosh storyline, not gonna lie. The Horde going to get to escape culpability for its crimes by pinning them all on Garrosh, the Alliance feels like an also-ran who mostly serve as the rebel's running dogs, and Sylvanas still feels like the bigger threat to the Alliance overall. As far as I'm concerned, the Alliance should be letting the Horde kill each other in Durotar while they do other stuff, like, say, securing Ashenvale, Stromgarde, and Hillsbarad.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I've been working on another Dragon Age Origins playthrough, hopefully sucking less than I did when it initially came out. I'm also playing Skyrim: Dawnguard.

I'm pretty indifferent to the Garrosh storyline. I feel like we've done the whole Corrupted By A Dark Power storyline before, you know?

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) I've been on a raiding break for a couple weeks to catch up on real life so I'll be diving back in to that after the holiday. Still leveling my paladin tank, Moodred, who is now level 75. Prot is a lot of fun I'm finding. Stress testing Infinite Crisis with a bunch of friends of mine that have been working on the game and more painting. The painting will never end.

As far as the Garrosh storyline goes, I went from not caring at all about Garrosh to actually paying attention and wanting to play through the story. Kudos to Blizzard on that, because I expected it to be a pretty boring arc for Alliance, and now it is not. Well, at least for me.

Kristin Marshall (@kristin) My guild extended our heroic progression lockout this week, so we ended up finishing up the raiding week on Tuesday. WHAT! So... I have the rest... of the week... off from raiding? What will I do? Perhaps level a new alt -- I just blitzed my 5th to level 90 this week. I'm considering my druid or monk to 90 next!

Bonus: I'm looking forward to how the storyline shapes up as we get through SoO.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) I picked up MTG - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 and Sealed mode is a-ddicting! I keep getting crappy pulls though. 8 black cards, 2 white cards, 4 blue cards, and an Inferno Titan? Like what the hell, man. Why does my luck with loot in Warcraft seemingly translate over to every other game that involves loot? Was I that horrible of a gaming person in my former life? I have got to be due for some good luck pretty soon. Maybe I'll get a really epic mount or something. Sigh. I'm going to go sit in a corner now. Hug my knees. Rock back and forth a little.

As for Garrosh, it's about damn time we crushed that maniac! But then again, I'm always up for a good Horde thrashing. For the Allies!

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) My guild's taking a vacation for the 1st and 4th of July so... I may not play at all, really.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Going to be doing some LFR and challenge modes on my main and then any valor grinding I can accomplish on my alt. Let's see if I can exit the weekend VP capped on both. If I have any free time, I'll probably continue my Crusader Kings 2 game.

I personally dislike the Garrosh storyline. It's so cliche. And I especially don't care for how the Garrosh character was basically rewritten from how he was developed across Cataclysm.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I've got a weekend of cleaning and video-making scheduled, but I'm sure I'll fit in a bit of WoW. There's always time for WoW! I'm having fun with my fire mage, doing random battlegrounds, and I will almost certainly pug some treasured bgs this weekend. Arenas too, perhaps, who knows!

As far as the Siege of Orgrimmar goes, I've really enjoyed the four encounters that have been tested so far, even if Nazgrim was buggy. But the story? From an alliance perspective the story pretty much sucks. There. I said it. Clean up the horde mess before you get to go kill the warchief? What's my motivation? Eesh.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) It's pretty hot here and we've got the new felines, so there will be more pool and kittens and less WoW or any other game. Bonus: I'm happy with the Garrosh storyline and can't wait to see how it plays out.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I'm in the Big Apple until Tuesday visiting friends and family so there's no gaming in my weekend forecast. (There are a few thunderstorms, however!) As for the second question--like many lore fans, I'm side-eying Baine's voice files pretty hard right now. How convenient of you to forget that Cairne challenged Garrosh to the dual first, Baine, and willingly agreed to the terms of "to the death". Either Cairne or Garrosh was getting carried out of that ring in a box, right from the get-go. Baine's ignoring that fact at this point just makes him look stupid.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
