NTT DoCoMo outs Raku-Raku F-09E smartphone for 'beginners'
It's been more than a year since NTT DoCoMo unveiled its F-12D Raku-Raku handset, so it's only natural the company would follow up with a successor in 2013. The Japanese firm just introduced the F-09E, an easy-to-use, Android-based device tailored for folks looking to get their feet wet on the smartphone craze. Hardware-wise, this Fujitsu-made, 4.3-inch (qHD) F12-D will be running Android 4.2.2, while a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600, 2GB RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and a 2,100mAh battery round out the spec list. Don't get too attached to what's under the hood, though: NTT DoCoMo notes the new member of the Raku-Raku family is still in development and things could change by the time it launches, sometime in "between late September and early October."

NTT DOCOMO Unveils Raku-Raku SMART PHONE PREMIUM F-09E
TOKYO, JAPAN, July 23, 2013 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC., a personalized mobile solutions provider for smarter living, announced today that its Raku-Raku ("easy-easy") SMART PHONE lineup of easy-to-use mobile phones for beginners will introduce the Raku-Raku SMART PHONE PREMIUM F-09E, the first model in this unique series to be equipped for Google Play, in the Japanese market between late September and early October.
The new model inherits the highly simplified usability and operability features of its predecessor, including extra-large screen fonts and "Raku-Raku Touch Panel" with tactile response similar to a conventional phone keypad. Newly added compatibility with Google Play will enable users to download and enjoy favorite applications for enhanced mobility. The Raku-Raku SMART PHONE PREMIUM F-09E comes in a stylishly designed body and has an extra-bright screen for easy visibility. Also, it takes excellent images thanks to improved camera-sensor sensitivity and a high-intensity flash.
DOCOMO launched its first Raku-Raku SMART PHONE, the F-12D, in August 2012 for users unfamiliar with touchscreen operations. Features such as extra-legible menus and tactile soft keys have made the phone very popular among first-time smartphone users.
