Jumbo-sized Nokia display bezel leaks

Mobile Miscellany week of July 22nd, 2013

Rumors of an extra large Lumia aren't entirely new, but the story gained substantiation this week with the leak of a display bezel that seems destined for such a smartphone. While it's difficult to gauge the exact measurements of the display, it's purported to be approximately six inches in size. Since Windows Phone 8 is currently limited to WXGA (1,280 x 768) as a maximum resolution, the release of such a large smartphone would likely be dictated by the forthcoming GDR3 release, which is rumored to endow Windows Phone 8 with 1080p capabilities. CyanogenMod intros Focal, its own camera app

Mobile Miscellany week of July 22nd, 2013

It's no secret that the camera app in stock Android leaves a lot to be desired. Fortunately, the folks of CyanogenMod are now taking things into their own hands with an app known as Focal. It features a number of goodies such as a customizable interface, auto-enhancement of photos and live exposure adjustments. Focal is in early stages of development, but it's reason enough to be encouraged for what's to come. [Android Police]

Meizu MX2 is reborn in white

Mobile Miscellany week of July 22nd, 2013

The Meizu MX2 has been available in China for the better part of a year now, but it found a new lease on life this week by making its debut in white. Our colleagues at Engadget China were among the first to greet the new arrival, which is set to become available next month. Other than the new exterior, the white MX2 is otherwise a clone of its former self, which includes a 4.4-inch, 1,280 x 800 display, a quad-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and an 8MP f/2.4 camera.
