WRUP: Moving on to 2014

Joystiq's Best of 2013 has concluded with Naughty Dog's survival action-adventure, The Last of Us, taking the top spot. That list is in no way exhaustive of the great games of the past year, with our Best of the Rest guide picking out many more worthy titles.

What's everyone playing this weekend?


  • Alexander Sliwinski (@Sliwinski, Twitch): With Assassin's Creed 4 wrapped up, I'm waiting for Don't Starve to come out on PS4 next week. I may play some Battlefield 4 or ... I don't know, maybe go digging through Steam. Oh, Starbound, still gotta try that.

  • Anthony John Agnello (@AJohnAgnello): Like everyone else it seems, I'm going to be blasting myself into the past with a little Hotline Miami. I've never played it before! I also just picked up an N64 cart of the original NFL Blitz. Awwwwww yeah.

  • Danny Cowan (@db_cowan, Twitch): I started up a new studio in Game Dev Story, so I'll be playing that while watching the Awesome Games Done Quick charity speedrunning marathon over the next week. Should be a hoot!

  • David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle, Twitch): So many games to play! I'm making progress in Assassin's Creed 4 and I still have yet to crack open Shelter, the game where you play as a mother badger who must care for and protect her little ones. I'm also gonna check out this Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod I've been hearing so much about it.

  • Earnest Cavalli (@Ecavalli, Twitch): I swear, I didn't know nostalgia was going to be our theme when I decided to replay Fallout 2. This is all just some weird coincidence.

  • Jess Conditt (@JessConditt, Twitch): Make me laugh, Super Meat Boy.

  • Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK, Twitch): I've managed to sprain my wrist and my elbow, so I should probably play Fighter Within on Kinect. But I'll probably just get the last few green stars in Super Mario 3D World ...

  • Mike Suszek (@MikeSuszek, Twitch): I'm catching up on games I've already beaten many times over by playing Legend of Mana on my Vita. Also: Tomb Raider!

  • Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM, Twitch): I will probably try to dig into more Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Or maybe I'll just play my newly purchased copy of Ecco the Dolphin on Sega CD ...

  • Sinan Kubba (@SinanKubba, Twitch): Finishing off Batman: Arkham Origins while it's still Christmassy.

  • Sam Prell (@SamPrell, Twitch): The nostalgia train keeps on rolling with me and my newly-purchased classic systems. Super Mario 64 is a no-brainer, but I hope to dig up some of the more obscure titles of the pre-HD era. Talkin IllBleed, y'all.

  • Steven Wong: There's a pile of games I have yet to finish. As it turns out, The Last of Us is first on the list.

  • Susan Arendt (@SusanArendt, Twitch): It's 2014, so naturally I'm playing Link's Awakening.

  • Thomas Schulenberg (@T_Schulenberg, Twitch): Now that I'm done drowning in GOTY contenders, I've got some downtime to play whatever I want. I'll dig up my old Mass Effect 2 save, finish whatever DLC I have left and then finally start Mass Effect 3.

  • Xav de Matos (@Xav, Twitch): ARMA 3 deserved more of my attention in 2013. I will fix that issue!
