WRUP: Very edition

Wow. Such first letter. Very hid. Many message.

WRUP this week is -- wait. Oh, you're all waiting for me to do the meme, right? Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this isn't just a doge post. Shiba Inus are a noble breed, and they deserve our respect. Unfortunately, most people just know about these animals from the doge meme. Can't blame them, but still.

Here's a Shiba, anyway. What a good boy! Really makes you want one, doesn't it? Universally smart and precocious though they are. Probably a bit much for a first-time dog owner. My desire for these puppies is still strong. Unsurprisingly.

Can't let animal pictures get in the way of WRUP, though. Here we've collected the Massively staff's plans. Why? Education. Edification. Kindness? Er, not so much. Nothing all that kind about it. Don't focus on my rambling, though. Make your way past the cut. And do you have plans? Neat! You should share them in the comments. Please. Lets us know we're appreciated. And we need that. No lie.

@ceruleangrey: I'll be Guild Wars 2-ing as usual and puttering around on my Warrior in Final Fantasy XIV. My wife is so far ahead of me that she has two jobs at 50ish as well as Goldsmith, so I gotta find a way to make myself useful. I'm the one who can sit there for hours and farm, though, so maybe harvesting and Blacksmithing can be my niche.

I'm also logging some time on HabitRPG, an online game...thingy that lets you level up and gear up a little character by completing customizable lists of tasks. It even has dailies and you can join up with other players to defeat bosses, so I declare it a multiplayer online game in the tradition of Kingdom of Loathing and therefore it totally counts. It's also the reason I've gotten anything done this week.

Beau Hindman, Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'm still trying to figure out which MMOFPS is my favorite between PlanetSide 2, Defiance, and Firefall. They all have something to offer and are truly different from one another. Looks like I'll just have to keep playing all three.

I'm also excited to try out some more Ever, Jane, the beta for [REDACTED] and some test server time for [REDACTED]'s new expansion. I can't wait to talk about it!

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I'll be playing that thing I can never talk about and maybe a beta test for another thing I can't talk about. Jeez, have I mentioned I hate NDAs?

Eliot Lefebvre, Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: I'm pushing my last Disciple of War up to 50 in Final Fantasy XIV whilst making some money and eyeing a few other projects in the game. I need to finish leveling my Miner and have to figure out the next craft to sink money into. I've also got the WildStar beta to toy around with and various steam games to play -- Risk of Rain is interesting, and I'm still not sure how much I actually like it, but it does eat up the time.

Justin Olivetti, Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: I'm on a strong Lord of the Rings Online streak right now, and I'd like to keep that alive. I'm looking forward to wrapping up the Helm's Deep expansion with my Captain so that I can go back and work on my Lore-master for a while.

@Shaddoe: A friend of mine asked me why I don't post in more of these. My response was that it would be boring to read that I am playing the same game every week. But then he told me to consider the nuances of playing that game, people would be likely interested in that. So this year, I resolve to post more in WRUP, starting this week.

There is a beta weekend that some of you might have heard about. Although I'm contractually obligated to not disclose anything about it, I did want to mention that people will be playing that game this weekend. Also this weekend in Star Wars: The Old Republic, I am GMing two roleplaying events with guildies and other Ebon Hawkers. First, we are freeing a prisoner on Belsavis, but the rescue unit has no idea where he is. Then, on Balmorra, the Sphere of Defense needs to procure a chemical plant, so my character has sent a strike team to try to take over the plant before her rival's platoon can get there.

Matthew Gollschewski, Columnist

Assuming I survive the dentist, I'll be going back into Neverwinter to play lots of Foundry quests, working on my Lalafell in FFXIV, and working on my first Soapbox.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: According to the error message on my screen right now, my hard drive is about to fail. So I'll probably be doing a fresh install on a new drive or sobbing, depending on the specific moment. If I get finished with all that, I'll be blowing off steam in Dota 2.

MJ Guthrie, Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I have gotten into the Yule spirit in Lord of the Rings Online! It is my goal to be picked for the villain role in the theater's production before the weekend is out. I am also trying to catch up on my epic story because I am woefully behind where my level should actually be. Of course, I can't let a weekend go by without more The Secret World shenanigans, so I will be in there taking stock of my equipment and starting to plan for my trip to see The Gatekeeper. (Gulp.) Oh, and let's not forget plotting ways to smuggle myself on a plane and get to San Diego on the 31st for the EverQuest Next Landmark community celebration!

Richie Procopio, Contributing Editor

@RichieProcopio: I'm looking forward to playing in the WildStar beta this weekend. I'm excited to be checking out the housing system since my main character hit level 14 this week. I'm also still having a lot of fun playing Hearthstone where "I'll just play one match" turns into not going to bed until 3 a.m.!

Terilynn Shull, Columnist

@terilynns: The first rule of [REDACTED] is that we do not talk about [REDACTED]. That, and I'll be in Star Trek Online and Lord of the Rings Online too!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
