Don't Starve devours a million players, spawns DLC teaser

Witty, peculiar survival game Don't Starve is officially a big hit, as over a million people have now braved its madcap virtual wilderness, according to developer Klei Entertainment.

"Well before the end of 2013 we had over one million Don't Starve players," Klei community manager Corey Rollins stated in an interview with Edge. "With PlayStation Plus, beyond promotion of being a featured game, a lot of people who maybe wouldn't have tried our game did, and really enjoyed it. Some of those people went on to check out the PC version as well, and would maybe be interested in the upcoming DLC."

The DLC Rollins mentioned is titled "Reign of Giants." Scant information is available on the addition; the sum of what we know of Reign of Giants can be found in the above teaser. There's currently no word when Reign of Giants will debut.

Beyond that add-on, Klei's future plans for Don't Starve involve bringing the quirky game to other platforms. "
We're investigating a proper Vita version at the moment, but we're not quite sure yet," Rollins said. "Currently, a lot of people play Don't Starve: Console Edition using the PS4′s remote play, and really enjoy it. So we're looking into a proper Vita release."

"As for iOS and mobile, that is something we've also been investigating and we think might work, but it's not at the front of our development priorities right now," Rollins added.
