One Shots: Dance like nobody's watching

Boy howdy, my screenshot challenge from a couple of weeks ago for you folks to take pictures of your characters dancing was pretty popular! I received a slew of entries, so why not dedicate an entire column to Massively readers shaking what their developers gave them?

First up is reader Duncan, who wins the internet (for a minute at least) with this picture: "Hey Massively! Here is a snapshot of my Chua character BuzzCracker in WildStar taking time off from his adventures on Nexus to get down and funky on the dance floor at 'Wild William's Tiki Bar' in the tree tops of Wilderrun. Don't ask me why the Mechari and the two Loppi are dancing with no clothes behind Buzz; it must be something in the drinks being served by old Bill at the bar. Next stop for BuzzCracker is a spring break beach party ongoing in Malgrave!"

Really, this should go to show that the world is primed and ready for an all-dancing MMO. Let's shake our groove thang with the rest of this week's entries!

WS

Lord of the Rings Online has fairly conservative dance emotes compared to other games, but even these can be put to good use in the right situations. Reader Chaira is tap dancing across a pond in this one: "The emote itself (dance_elf2) is nothing remarkable, but it's fun to use near a body of water."

Let's not kid ourselves; Elves are nothing remarkable. But we'll permit one for the sake of a pretty screenshot!

Here's another WildStar dance scene, this one from reader Chris. Hey Chris! What's going on? Anything awesome in your life right now that you'd like to share? How are you feeling about your future? Talk to me, buddy. It's what I'm here for.

"So here's a shot I managed to snag of my ultra-fab Pinkest Aurin Ever, Dashwind, dancing happily in the grass just seconds before a member of the Darkspur Cartel decided to show his disapproval with a big sword. Everybody's a critic," Chris moaned.

Reader Salt sent me an email with "dance competition" in the header, although I can't really tell if his Charr is doing anything other than skipping along with a kite in Guild Wars 2. Kite dancing! It's a new fad!

"Some friends and I guested over to Tarnished Coast to have a little fun," Salt wrote. "I'm already missing my town clothes."

Our screenshot challenge of the week is to play amateur meteorologist and send us in a few pictures of the weather in your favorite MMOs. Whether it be snow, rain, fog, sandstorms, or cats and dogs falling out of the sky, let's see what's going on in your atmosphere!

Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to oneshots@massively.com, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
