The Queue: Opinions

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Let's get this party started.

Banjo asked:

What is your honest opinion of WoD?

Have you enjoyed World of Warcraft up until this point? If yes, you'll enjoy Warlords. If no, then as far as we've seen, Warlords doesn't revolutionize the game. It's more World of Warcraft. To be clear -- when I say it doesn't revolutionize the game, I'm of the opinion that no expansion has totally revolutionized World of Warcraft. There have been changes, some of them significant and sweeping, but WoW is essentially the same game it was in 2004. Its base structure is the same. And will probably always be the same. If you like that structure, that's awesome. Warlords is something you'll enjoy. Any aspect of the game you've enjoyed from prior expansions is probably present here in some way.

I know that answer might seem underwhelming, but seriously: if you like WoW, you'll like Warlords. I think that's a compliment.

I have grievances with the story of Warlords, but that's a personal issue for sure. I, in general, don't see the appeal in an alternate-universe story. I don't see the appeal in putting a fresh coat of paint in a story that's quite old at this point. Yes, there are new characters and new arcs and a different perspective on those events, but I'm not really interested in seeing Gul'dan, Grom, Durotan, and so forth in the flesh again. Some people are stoked about that, though. SO your mileage may vary. Personally, I'd much rather see Azerothian ramifications of Siege of Orgrimmar.

Chasing Garrosh to a far away land feels like an unnecessary distraction. The Alliance is supposedly Azeroth's new superpower, right? I'd like to see the result of that sooner rather than later. Does that position actually matter? How is Vol'jin going to lead the Horde differently from Thrall or Garrosh? Maybe we'll get back to that, but it's really disappointing to me that we're going with a ragtag band of Azerothians to a completely different world right when those questions have been raised.

mii415 asked:

Will "toys" we have received in the past but deleted appear in our toy-box? For example quest rewards.

As was mentioned in the comments yesterday, you have to place items in your toybox manually. Unless Blizzard does a mass-restore, or you're still able to recover the item via the Battle.net support system, you're probably out of luck if you deleted things.

Neuromante asked:

Wow, two questions asked and answered in a row in "The Queue". That should be an achievement or sumpin', huh?

Sorry, there's no achievement for getting two questions answered in a row. Three, though? There might be one for three.

lib.feathers asked:

In the very beginning [of Warlords], when we first land in the Tanaan jungle, you can see Grom yelling. I took a screenie. But I never saw him anywhere. Was he there, or was he broadcasting live over the iHeart radio?

I don't think he's there anywhere that you can see him, but as far as the story goes, he's probably in Tanaan Jungle somewhere. The bulk of the Iron Horde's forces is centered in Tanaan Jungle and he seems to be the top dog warlord commanding them. It'd make sense that he's out there barking orders.

Mythriak asked:

On the last WoD beta patch this Item was datamined. Is it a dance studio hint or just Blizzard playing another joke on us?

There's been no indication of any work being done of the dance studio in a very long time, so it would be one heck of a shock if that was a dance studio hint. It's acquired through garrison missions, so it's probably something for your followers. Currently, while the item is marked consumable in-game, you can't do anything with it. It will probably do something silly or it's a placeholder for something actually useful.

I would enjoy it if it taught my human female characters a dance other than their atrocious Macarena/Elaine Dance.
