Report: Amazon to acquire Twitch for $1 billion

Now Amazon is reportedly ready to buy Twitch for a billion buckaroos? Nearly a month after the video game streaming service was reportedly being purchased by YouTube parent Google, TheInformation and others (like the Wall Street Journal) are saying that Amazon is gonna be Twitch's sugar daddy.

The deal could be announced as early as next Monday. How does this deal make sense? Well, Amazon has been dipping its toes into gaming and it would give the company a solid, growing advertising-based revenue stream against competitors like Google's YouTube and the subscription-based Netflix.
