Metal Slug X files are out there on Steam, releases in Oct.

A new Steam page reveals that come October 2, run-and-gunners can party like it's 1999 when SNK side-scroller Metal Slug X hits the portal. After reaching mobiles 18 months ago, the laser-toting, camel-riding, sometimes-mummified re-release of Metal Slug 2 is coming to PC with a $8 price tag. If you pre-purchase you can bring that down to $6.

According to the Steam listing, there's support for both local and online two-player co-op, as well as online leaderboards and the standard six-mission arcade and mission select modes. Full controller support is also available, but sadly, Windows XP support is not. Sorry, XP.

Nearly two decades after its first entry, Metal Slug still stands out with its mix of traditional sideways shoot-em-up and off-the-wall humor. As one of only two revised re-releases in the series, Metal Slug X provides some significant differences from the original, including new weapons and differently laid out stages to catch out returning players.

If you fancy more 2D bullet-riddled madness on Steam, Metal Slug 3 hit the portal earlier this year and you can grab it now for $8.
