One Shots: Hitchhorsing

aa

I'm learning new things about ArcheAge every day. For example, did you know that you can hitch a ride on a mount in that game? Jef even informs me that you can do so uninvited, although the driver may shove you off along the way. That's pretty cool, even if it lends itself to a very specific new form of griefing.

Reader Sean demonstrates how one poor horse can handle two riders in our lead screenshot: "The picture is of my main, Kadrassius, and my wife's main, Keziah, as they take a ride through Marianople. I really liked this scene with the way the characters react when the horse rears up. Now I just need to get barding for my horse."

Now if we can only get a college fraternity to all pile on the same beast of burden, then we'd be making progress in this industry!

Reader Chiara likes to deliver insincere apologies for "clogging up" my inbox with her steady stream of pictures. First of all? Not even my inbox. It's on loan from Google, and I think that company has added an offshore server farm barge just to handle the extra screenshots. Second of all? There's no such thing as too many One Shots submissions!

"I took this screenshot a while ago in Guild Wars 2 when Caithe thought I wasn't looking," Chiara writes. "Feel free to draw your own conclusions."

I dunno -- my drawing skills are notoriously bad.

Speaking of too many submissions, one day in the far future I'll finally get through all of the Star Trek Online emails that reader Chris sent in a while back. I thought this one was striking and made me crave a grape-flavored soda for some reason.

"Here the USS Aurora hides from Borg vessels in the Mutara Nebula. (That's dramatic license; the Borg are sector encounters that don't actually try to catch you.) I admire the effort the artists put in to emulate the graceful whorls and cloudbanks of purple and blue seen in Wrath of Khan," Chris explains.

"Here I am enjoying the view in RIFT with my Barbarian Mage," reader PixelatedZen says.

Um, unless you're referring to your character's special ability of having eyes in the back of his head, then the view you are enjoying is completely different than the one we are seeing here. I might just go mad speculating what wonders this character is beholding. It probably has something to do with a candy carousel, yes?

This week's screenshot challenge is to be on the lookout for player events and take a few pics of them! These can be weddings, roleplaying encounters, games, parades, or any general weirdness. Have at it!
