The Queue: New Year's Eve

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

I'm writing today's edition of The Queue at 5:00 a.m. Central time. It's already 2015 in New Zealand. Timezones are weird.

Beztoko asked:

I have a timeline question it has been said that WOD Gul'dan is on the phone with a very angry kil'jaeden, am I wrong to assume that this is a different kil'jaeden than the one we fought in BC?

That would be the Kil'jaeden from the alternate timeline, yes. We don't know whether or not the Burning Legion has the ability to freely hop timelines, but we haven't been told that they can, nor have we seen them do it -- for now, it's safe to say they can't. The Mannoroth in the Warlords of Draenor cinematic is an alternate Mannoroth, so the Kil'jaeden they've referred to is also, most likely, alternate universe Kil'jaeden.

Zemaya asked:

Will WI be posting a faction rep guide? I know there are only a handful of reps to get but you do need them for the trading post level 3

That has been hotfixed so you only need one reputation at exalted. The tooltip requires a client patch to change, however. It says three, but you don't need three. And in Warlords of Draenor, reputations aren't a particularly involved process -- for the most part, you just kill the mobs that give the correct reputation. There are no daily quests. Arakkoa Outcasts? Kill mobs. Council of Exarchs? Kill mobs. Steamwheedle Preservation Society? Kill mobs which drop items which are turned in for reputation, being essentially the same process only you have to click a button after the fact.

Aubrey asked:

The Raven/Crow God map in HotS; is this a Warcraft thing? I know we have Anzu, but HoTS and the Nexus are kind of a merged IP world so I don't know if it's something from maybe Diablo either. Or it could just be its own thing, but it sure seems like something that could be a reference to an existing thing. The pirate map for instance is way more Warcrafty than the other maps.

None of the Heroes of the Storm maps fit any particular game perfectly -- it isn't a Warcraft map, it isn't an anything map. It's just a fun Blizzardy map. They all pull from that Blizzard aesthetic. Sometimes that means you can point at a map and say it's Warcrafty, or Diabloesque, or so forth. But it's just Blizzard aesthetics. The map with the Dragon Knight pulls heavily from Warcraft feel and aesthetics but there's still no such thing as a legendary Dragon Knight in Warcraft.

@_Ferse asked:

what do you like to do on NYE?

I don't do very much, honestly. I'm not big on holidays. My participation is usually limited to doing enough that I don't make a holiday suck for the people around me. My only real tradition is herring in wine sauce on crackers for Christmas and New Year's Eve, and I drink a Wisconsin-style Old Fashioned. I inherited my sense of taste from my grandpa. Old man snacks and old man drinks.
