Google highlights even more Android Wear watch faces, straps

Itching to make your shiny new Android Wear watch really yours? You're in luck -- Google's curating not only the best watchfaces to throw on your teensy wrist-display, but some of the handsome watchbands you should lash onto it too. Android Wear product manager Jeff Chang pointed out new (and mostly leather, sadly) straps available from E3 Supply Co., Worn & Wound and Clockwork Synergy in a post on the Official Android Blog earlier today. Thing is, you can't actually buy these accessories straight from the Play Store proper -- you'll still have to mosey on over to each retailer's site to lay claim to your next bit of wrist candy so the approach isn't exactly as seamless as we would've hoped.

E-commerce critiques aside, it's still nice of Google to give third-party accessory makers the nod here -- usually it's the watch face developers themselves that get the most credit in Google's shout-outs, and proper, public pushes like this might get other creators thinking about expanding the ecosystem with straps and add-ons of their own. Oh, and while we're speaking of watch faces, those developers have been pretty busy since the platform first went live last year. Chang notes that there are finally over a thousand faces to choose from, all meant to help tailor your wearable to your lifestyle (and with more visual flair and expandability than you can squeeze out of an Apple Watch, which has already started popping up in a handful of early reviews).
