LG dresses up a mid-range smartphone in an all-metal suit

The LG Zero (aka LG Class) comes with mid-range specs and a snazzy body.

LG has announced that it'll begin selling the LG Zero, its first smartphone to come with an all metal body, to customers in Taiwan from this week. Shortly afterward, the Korean conglomerate will begin hawking the mid-range device to users in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Unless, of course, you live in Germany, Korea, Russia or Singapore, where the phone will be known as the LG Class for reasons. Aside from the body, there's not much that distinguishes this phone from many of the others that'll occupy that chunk of the shelf in your local retailer.

Specs-wise, there's a 5-inch 1,280 x 720 display that's paired with a 1.2GHz quad-core chip and 1.5GB RAM running Android 5.1. Storage-wise, you'll get 16GB built-in with a micro-SD card slot for expansion, as well as a 2,050mAh battery and LTE / HSPA+ GSM radios. At least LG has recognized the importance of good imaging, and has seen fit to equip the device with a 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel forward-facer. It's available in silver and gold, although details on pricing and participating carriers will be drip-fed out when this device reaches the relevant territory.
