Had the same problem but VirtualBox is also able to open the vmware disk image so download that and you should be good to go.
Edited to add that your eeepc spec is a bit low for any sort of Virtual work but good luck!
I just used the VMDK (Vmware image) with VirtualBox and everything worked pretty well; I tried changing settings but the VirtualBox image never worked for me either.
thanks, medwyn would you mind giving more details on which settings you used.
these are the settings i used (sorry about the formatting) you'll probably want to increase the RAM settings to make things a little smoother.
Floppy, CD/DVD-ROM, Hard Disk
Remote Display Server:
IDE Primary Master:
chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vmdk (Normal, 2.78 GB)
PCnet-PCI II (NAT)
0 (0 active)
Make the same configuration as you medwyn before reading posts there, and after "natural intelligence" does not help me, read the posts :-)
And not working for me too with virtual box.
Same here Vdi image gives black screen but vdmk is working well
Did you use the guide there with the VMWare image? That is what it's for. That guide isn't for the VirtualBox image.
i just downloaded ChromeOS (virtual box imgage), any tips on making the installation successful before I begin?
sorry, I was just being impatient and didnt realise that the os has no splash screen.
What did you do to get it working with the VirtualBox image? It's not working for me, just shows a black screen...
VirtualBox image is just giving me a black screen too. At least the VMWare image works in VirtualBox.
I used the VMWare image for virtual box, and it worked. vitualbox image gave me a black screen like others have mentioned.
I can't add the chrome-os-0.4.22.8-gdgt.vmdk file in media manager
did everythin as on a previous post,.. but its not lettin me log in.. keeps tellin me "network not connected and offline login fail" help plz!!
Got that far as well in VirtualBox. Not able to log in due to failed network connection.
Tried Bridged Networking in stead of NAT, didn't help either...>
I have the VMware image working on VirtualBox on a MacBook Pro. I had trouble with the network. Changed it to PCnet-PCII (NAT) and was able to get online.
Like most people here the virtual box version didnt work, the vmware version in virtual box works.
Virtual Box in MAC Snow Leopard. Chromium boots up but no network connection.
Have tried many combinations of network adapter and bridged and NAT mode still no joy. Using 24inch IMAC Duo Core
I will wait a little longer until someone out there with similar hardware show me how its done.
Doesn't work for me either. Tried all possible combinations for Network. Not able to connect to the internet. :(
The “Network not connected and offline login fail” problem seems to be affecting all platforms and it's behaviour is random; and the fixes are random too. I originally ran the VMWare image on Virtualbox and it worked. I thought this is a bit slow, maybe it's quicker running on VMWare, so I installed VMWare Player and ran the VMWare image, it didn't work. I downloaded the VDI image and ran on the Virtualbox, it didn't work. So it was back to the VMWare image running on Virtualbox, couldn't login. The only way I can login is using the cronos login with the password "password". As soon as you log in you can log into your gmail account using the network connection, so the network connection is working. Tried all the suggestions other people have made about bridged networking, changing the network adapter type, and waiting for 10 seconds, 10 minutes etc but all to no avail.
I am not able to open vmdk image with VirtualBox ..please help
