Google puede ya comprar y vender electricidad

¿Hay algún segmento del mercado que quede fuera del alcance de la mano de Google? Parece que no. Lo último que hemos conocido es que la Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) -organismo que regula la energía en Estados Unidos- acaba de autorizar al gigante la potestad de "comprar y vender electricidad en masa".

No te asustes, por el momento no parece que Google vaya a firmar tu próximo recibo de la luz, sino que lo que se trata es de comprar energía (suponemos que en mejores condiciones) para su propio uso interno. El portavoz de Google, Niki Fenwick, afirmó que este visto bueno se solicitó para que la empresa "tuviera mayor flexibilidad a la hora de disponer de electricidad en sus sedes, incluyendo los centros de datos".
