Engadget Review

The Echo Spot brings Alexa in the form of a tiny touchscreen alarm clock. Its display is indeed pretty useful, as its adds additional context and visual information. It's great for video calls, too. And yet, its current $130 asking price feels high for what's essentially a smart alarm clock, especially when the Echo Show costs only $20 more and has better audio quality. We still really like the Echo Spot, but we'd hold off and wait for the price to come down.

What an absolute gem!!! My little Amazon Echo Spot, of whom I've named "Spott" (yes, I do realize that I have 2 letter 'T's in the name Spott!). She really is a beaut, as I also possess the Amazon Echo Dot, the Google Home and the Google Home Mini, and I must say that for such a modest amount of under $200 Aussie bucks, she does contain a boatload of features but without containing any of the bloatware which unsuspectingly tags along with many of other similar or related products! This is quite a refreshing change, but because of having such a very low amount of bloatware onboard, many may very well be of the opinion that she can be a bit on the featureless side, despite having just enough features for what one really does need. Here is how I sum it up in one paragraph: The Echo Spot is simple in its design & user interface, simple in its application of various functionalities such as photos, audio books, video and more...but is also quite the power-plant to keep up with heavy demands in all aspects in media, and by no means is it lacking power in any way. She is likened to an Echo Dot with a screen - hence Echo Spot !! The only thing I found slightly lacking was the sound quality of the onboard speaker itself, as I found that it was okay in the bass department (especially for a device of this size!) but felt that it was lacking in the treble range surprisingly enough - as the Echo Dot has had a long history of actually being the exact opposite! Too tinny, but substantially not enough bass response. So, all in all, the Amazon Echo Spot is a fantastic little unit which can be placed almost anywhere within the home in order for you to keep tabs with the vastly powerful online network of the interwebs. So my little caveat here for you to take away regarding this very brief testimonial is that you really should go out and get yourself either a black or a white Echo Spot as soon as humanly possible but only if a couple of stipulations are met. They are: If you do not already currently have either an Amazon Echo Spot (obviously!), Echo Dot, Echo Show (sorta like Echo Spots very big brother with a much bigger screen) - AND if you can obtain a site in which they are selling the Echo Spot for UNDER $200 Australian (Approx.USD$150) then, and only then is the Echo Spot worth buying for all of the special features of which I have been mentioning here within this short testimonial review of the most amazing Amazon Echo Spot.
