Apple's older iPod touch, which is still available and supported, is a great choice for watching movies, listening to music, and playing games. It's very thin and light, and with Wi-Fi, you can stream content anywhere you have an internet connection. The screen and camera aren't quite as great as what you'll get on the latest model, but with the 16GB version available for just $199, it's a good deal, especially if you're looking for an alternative to the iPhone for your on-the-go media needs. (If you're ready to upgrade to a 32GB model, however, get the newer model, since it's just $50 more than the 4th-gen's $249 price tag.)
With the 4th generation mode, the touch has widened its lead over the competition. If you’ve already got a mobile phone, or don’t want to pay the iPhone’s monthly fees, there’s no better option for pocket-sized mobile entertainment than the 4th generation iPod touch.
