Engadget Summary

If you want audiophile-quality sound from your PC, have $400 to spare, and have room for them on your desk, these speakers will deliver the goods. Or you can use their RCA jacks to get great sound from just about any source. Audioengine also sells a range of add-ons, including a subwoofer and wireless streaming adapters. Though the 5+ includes a USB port, it's there to charge devices such smartphones and portable media players; audio input is via the standard 3.5mm jack. While there's no USB audio option, such as you'll find on the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 speakers (which include an internal digital-to-audio converter), you can, of course, add a DAC, such as Audioengine's D1, to bypass your PC's soundcard.

Outstanding sound given the form factor. Great details in the mid&high spectrum. Good spatialization. Bass seems fine, but as I don't listen to bass heavy music, can't really comment. While I am waiting for a proper DAC to connect it to which will lead to a different setup, I am playing them through an apple airport express.
