Engadget Review

HTC has established a new bellwether for entry-level phones. Of course, though, that tempting price means having to settle for more limited horsepower.

The phone is a low-end smartphone with basic capabilities which may suit someone new to the concept of smartphones. The performance of the phone lacks the ability to multi-task or play games without lagging. Many times I have had to restart my phone to clear all cache and allow for some use if any. A main issue that I came across was that because of the lag, I couldn't call anyone without waiting about 2 minutes on a blank screen which later transitions to the normal dialing screen. This was very frustrating.Overall the phone is quite good for someone who will only use the basic functions including making phone calls, taking photos, text messaging, using utilities (calculator, calendar etc.) and playing some more-basic games than ones such as 'Ashphalt' or other FPS games.

It is a very good entry level phone. If you think you want a phone that is worth boasting, sure, get the HTC one s or One X. The 1GHZ processor performs very well and I am very impressed.

I recently got out of my Sprint contract with the HTV Evo 4G. After buying an extended battery and changing the OS because the phone was lagging with crappy battery life, this One V has given me a new appreciation for Android. For $199 and Virgin Mobile's $35 a month plan for 300 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited date(2.5g) its been a great experience. I honestly do not miss the large screen of my EVO and appreciate the new mobility of the smaller 3.7 in screen on the One V. I also like the transitions and sounds that comes with the One V and for some reason my Gmail on my desktop seems to update faster when deleting an email from my phone. I know its sounds weird because the phone has nothing to do with it but it seems to happen instantaneously. I think the only feature I wish this phone had was an NFC chip. I know I know its not exactly in crazy widespread use BUT once that new iPhone launches with an NFC chip, everyone and their mother will start putting NFC capable terminals in their stores. Once this phone has run its course I will be moving over to WP8 but in the mean time this phone really has given me new hope for Android.

This phone has all the perks of high quality phones which cost 600+ however it is lag at points, otherwise I highly recommend this phone to beggining android people, However intermidiate android users would probably want the more advanced HTC One X. This phone could also be used as the phone offices give out to employes or as a test dev phone.
