Engadget Review

Despite a price tag far lower than that of high-end flagship phones, Huawei’s Honor View 20 packs a handful of forward-looking features that some people will be able to use right away. There’s that 6.4-inch display that proves that life with hole-punched screens won’t be so bad. And the 48-megapixel dual camera system has lots of potential (especially its super-crisp Ultra Clarity mode), even if it’s only just OK in most situations. There’s no shortage of power here either, thanks to Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset, and you almost certainly won’t be in trouble if you forget to charge your View 20 once in a while. All told, the View 20 is a tantalizing package for the price, and one that’s well worth looking into if you don’t mind occasionally odd software, minimal water resistance, and don’t live in the US.

Advanced features, great battery life and a good price: the only real part to put you off the Honor View 20 is that ambitious shiny finish.

I can’t deny that this is a fantastic device. It really does a lot for a solid price of around $550. For me though, it’s unfair to call it a OnePlus killer as it’s a great smartphone in its own right. It has better cameras than the OnePlus 6T and it also has a few extras that OnePlus devices are slowly cutting away. The display cutout or ‘punch-hole notch’ is definitely something that I like and can’t wait to see it on more smartphones throughout 2019.

Android Central
The Honor View 20 is one of the best affordable Android flagships you can buy today, taking the core experience of the much more expensive Mate 20 Pro and dressing it up in an eye-catching chassis with a futuristic all-screen display. With a phone like this priced far below the traditional high-end flagships, it's harder than ever to justify spending top dollar on a big-name handset.

The View 20 is the best phone Honor has made to date, combining cutting-edge tech with a swoon-worthy design.

With flagship phones becoming more expensive – no one is expecting the upcoming Galaxy S10 to come at a price that’s anywhere close to this – the View 20 is the ideal antidote.

The Honor View 20 kicks off 2019 with a strong start. It's powerful, competitively priced, and the hole-punch display is a good preview for what we can expect from smartphones in 2019. It gets us one step closer to the dream of an all-screen smartphone and one step further away from the notch.

The Honor View 20 is the first salvo of a new battle for the full-view screen and high-Megapixel camera which we expect to last well into 2019. The battle lines are clear, and this handset sets the bar in terms of design and performance for phones in its category. At 2999 Yuan, the Honor View 20 value is just incredible. Honor has thrown a lot of resources in the primary camera, betting that a single camera module with a 48 Megapixel sensor could perform very well, even with zoom. Our camera tests show that the investment has paid off, and the View 20 can reach near the performance of a 2X optical zoom.

With its excellent performance, reliable battery life, handsome looks, and acceptable compromises, the Honor View 20 is hard to criticize. Sure, you miss out on wireless charging, but that’s also true of the OnePlus 6T and the majority of other phones in this price class. Like the 6T, the View 20 has a rapid-charging mode that tops up the phone to 55 percent in 30 minutes. Like OnePlus, Honor appears devoted to delivering Android updates as fast as possible.

Despite some software drawbacks, the Honor View 20 is a standout midprice phone with nearly everything.
