Engadget Review

Nest's first video doorbell doubles as a security camera. The HDR video looks great, and the 4:3 aspect ratio combined with a 160-degree field-of-view means you can get a full look at your guest before opening the door. We recommend getting the Nest Aware subscription, which unlocks continuous 24/7 live video recording, at least five days' worth of archives, and face recognition. The Hello is especially useful if you have other Google or Nest products in your home.

The Nest Hello is the smartest video doorbell available today, and a really solid choice for anyone -- but it's especially appealing if you're sold on a broader Google/Nest smart home.

If you are looking for a way to monitor who is at your door, it's tough to beat a Nest Hello doorbell. The video quality is excellent, you can talk to the person through the Nest Hello without opening the door, and you feel safer knowing exactly who is on the other side all day and all night.

Nest Hello easily is the best doorbell I've used. I wouldn't rip out an existing Ring Pro for it, but it is the one I'll be recommending from here on out — especially if you're already an owner of other Nest products.

The Nest Hello video doorbell not only lets you know when somebody is at your door, it uses face recognition to tell you exactly who it is.

Nest Hello is a welcome addition to the Nest family of products and exhibits the same manufacturing, design, and technical quality as the rest of the range. At $229, it’s one of the more expensive video doorbells on the market, and the monthly subscription price is a bit more than competitors, too. But if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed.
