Engadget Review

Nokia's Lumia 720 is a very desirable handset on the outside, but lackluster insides make it hard to justify the price.

This is a great mid range product that is both easy to use and a good fit in the hand. Unlike most reviewers, I don't have huge requirements on app selection so for my purposes, the Ecosystem is good.

For a buyer contemplating to buy a smartphone which is not android/iOS based, windows phone 8 is afresh whiff of air in the smartphone landscape. Such a fresh os when married with the kind of sturdy hardware that Nokia produces, brings forth the Lumia line which takes us back to the days when the first iPhone was unveiled to a world which knew phones as big stubby bricks with keys as warts on them. Lumia line consists of 520,620,720,920 with the windows phone 8 interface. Nokia has smartly introduced windows phone 8 in various price ranges to suit the palate of the customer. So, when we are fixed on to buy into windows phone 8, there is no competition to the Lumia as similar devices from other OEMs (read HTC, SAMSUNG) pale in comparison to it. Now picking up a Lumia from the variants of the '20 series is like showering step-motherly love on others. You have the badass 920 sitting at the top and the measly 520 at the bottom of the pyramid. But to even discard 520 as cheap is sacrilege, coz windows phone 8 seduces you. The fluidy interface is same along the series, and here come the differentiating factors Nokia throws at you to decide and pick one. In the days of smartphones caged in gorilla glass, phones from 720 come covered with it. You have to feel the 720 in hand and compare with the touch you get with 520,620 to understand how good it is. That for me was the deal-maker to go with 720 as 820,920 felt too heavy or small. 720 just feels right.
