Engadget Review

OnePlus continues to deliver great hardware and software features with the 6T. However,a sluggish in-display fingerprint reader and the controversial decision to remove the headphone jack might give you pause. The 6T would have otherwise been a fitting successor to the highly praised 6.

The OnePlus 6T is the most affordable, top-notch Android you can get. But if you already have the 6, don't feel the need to update.

This affordable Android flagship sports a lightning-fast in-display fingerprint sensor and powerful performance for half the price of its rivals.

For all the people who say they want something fast and reliable for a decent price, the OnePlus 6T is your phone. It’s got excellent battery life, flagship specs, and a neat in-screen fingerprint reader Americans can’t really get on anything else yet. And now, thanks to wider availability and better carrier support, the OnePlus 6T needs to be a serious consideration for anyone looking to sidestep the onslaught of $1,000 phones. While its original motto always felt a bit trite, five years after its start, OnePlus’ latest phone is closer to being a flagship killer than ever before.

The OnePlus 6T is, as is always the case, the best OnePlus phone yet. But it’s also the only one you can buy, which doesn’t give you much choice in the matter. It has excellent performance, a huge OLED display and an in-screen fingerprint scanner that works pretty well. The dual cameras are good enough for all but the keenest pixel peeper. More than ever it’s more of the same from OnePlus and this is barely an upgrade from the 6 – but it’s still a very good phone.

If you have a OnePlus 6 there isn't a huge change, but from every other previous model, this is going to feel like a massive leap forward. Because - despite its more premium price point - OnePlus is still knocking it out of the park. The question remains that has been posed by the company since its first year: why pay more?

The OnePlus 6T is the most accomplished phone we’ve ever seen from the company, and a bunch of new features, including an in-screen fingerprint scanner and a larger battery, add up to make this one of the best phones you can buy right now.

The innovative in-screen fingerprint sensor is fun to use, the alert slider rocks, reception cannot be beat, battery life is excellent, and the camera works quite well. I give the OnePlus 6T a very high recommendation and once you give it a try you may not go back to paying nearly twice as much for your next smartphone.

The OnePlus 6T is not that much better than its predecessor, but the the overall experience is still miles ahead of the competition. For $579, this phone is a no-brainer for anyone, especially T-Mobile customers.
