Engadget Review

A dynamic hybrid station wagon that’s equally at home dropping off the kids as it is hitting the switchbacks. The hybrid system is built for power but also delivers solid electric-only range. The infotainment system takes a bit to get used to, but overall its customization will win you over. Sadly, there's no 360 degree camera system and the rear cargo area loses precious space thanks to the angle of the hatch.

  • A hybrid system that adds power and efficiency when you need it
  • Handles better than a car its size should
  • Customizable infotainment system
  • Physical buttons
  • Storage space eaten by hatch angle
  • Infotainment system widget gets in the way sometimes
  • A bit difficult to fine tune acceleration and braking at low speeds
  • No 360-degree camera

Score Breakdown

Average Critic Score
Gorgeously styled, the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo adds a dose of green electrification without compromising what makes a Porsche electrifying.
Chicago Tribune
Sport Turismo is an excellent antidote to crossover fatigue, and it gives Porsche fans a boosted powertrain with an efficient around-town option. For pure Panamera performance, there are costlier options, but the plug-in wagon provides an option balancing performance, efficiency and sophistication. There are dozens of electrics and plug-in hybrids coming to market in the next few years, but for now there is only one luxury plug-in hybrid wagon.
The Telegraph
Appealing on paper, but not quite so convincing in the flesh, the hybrid Panamera estate doesn’t involve you as much as it should, and neither is it as comfortable as its best rivals. It’s a jack of all trades, certainly – but a master of none.
The Car Connection
The 2018 Porsche Panamera is a worthy four-seater for the vaunted Porsche badge.
Digital Trends
What surprised us most about the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is that going from the E-Power to the Sport + mode feels like you just switched cars. It’s as if Porsche bundled two different sedans under the same body, no small feat when both need to live up to the brand’s high standards. It shines as a sports sedan, succeeds as a hybrid, and excels as a Porsche.
Hybrids don’t have to be boring, they don’t have to look bland, and they don’t need to provide the experience equivalent of a hair-shirt behind the wheel. The 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is green in a distinctly entertaining way, and only leaves me more excited for the automaker’s first all-electric car next year.
